How do I find out the excess on my home policy?
Your excess amounts are outlined in your policy documents. The excess is the payment you make towards the cost of your claim. Further details on this can be found in your policy documents in Your Account.
Voluntary excess: A voluntary excess is chosen by you and is the amount you are willing to pay towards a claim. You should consider the most you would want to pay in the event of a claim before proceeding. In the event of a claim, this is payable in addition to the compulsory excess and will be deducted from the overall claim settlement. Please note, sometimes you may need to pay your excesses up front for repairs to your home.
Compulsory excess: All policies include a compulsory excess. The excesses below apply to buildings, contents, personal possessions and bicycles. Where a claim is made for more than one section of cover, we will only apply one excess, but the higher excess will always apply. In the event of an escape of water claim or subsidence claim, you will be charged the relevant excess in replacement of the compulsory excess. More information can be found in the policy wording or refer to your Schedule.
