What changes are being made to your products?
We’re saying goodbye to our four current products; 1st Central, 1st Central Plus, 1st Central Legal and 1st Central Premier. This means these products will no longer be available when taking out a new policy.
Are you introducing new products?
Yes! We've introduced a brand-new range of 1st Central Core Products, which are now available when taking out a policy with us.
1st Central Online has had a name change to 1st Central Extra, for more information around these changes, click on the `1st Central Online car insurance` tab below.
What does this change mean for me?
If you already have a 1st Central Online policy, nothing changes right now. When it comes to your renewal, you'll notice the new name, 1st Central Extra! You'll see this name in your renewal invite and documents, which you can find in Your Account. Your cover and features will stay the same.
What should I do now?
No action is needed, we’ll make sure that you’re updated along the way!

1st Central Value car insurance
Our 1st Central Value product provides motor insurance at our lowest price possible. It’s different from our 5 Star Defaqto rated product - 1st Central Core, as it has a higher excess and doesn’t include cover for glass damage, loss of personal belongings, personal accident cover, sound equipment or our uninsured driver promise.
1st Central Connect car insurance
1st Central Connect is our user-friendly telematics policy. Telematics is a car insurance policy where you share your driving data with us, so we can provide you with a fair price based on how you drive.

1st Central Core car insurance
1st Central Core is our brand-new car insurance product that’s available when purchasing a new policy. This product is for customers who are looking for an affordable option but still want the security of a 5-star Defaqto rated product. You can enjoy great coverage, by choosing a product with fewer features.
We provide both online and contact centre support for this product. Please note that different fees may apply when making changes to your policy, depending on whether you make changes over the phone or in Your Account.

1st Central Legal car insurance
This product will only be offered at renewal for existing 1st Central Legal customers which includes Legal Expenses Cover as standard.
If your policy inception or renewal date was before 01/10/2024, your Legal Expenses Cover is provided by Coplus.
If your policy inception or renewal date was on or after 01/10/2024, your Legal Expenses Cover is provided by Carpenters which is underwritten by Allianz Insurance PLC.

Log in to Your Account and select ‘Documents’. If you have a 1st Central Legal policy, you’ll see that your ‘Insurance Document Wording’ document has a 1st Central Legal logo on the front, and that your ‘Schedule’ document will show that Legal Expenses Cover is included on your policy.
1st Central Premier car insurance
This product will only be offered at renewal for existing 1st Central Premier customers, which includes Breakdown Cover and Legal Expenses Cover as standard.
The Breakdown Cover is provided by the RAC.

If you have a 1st Central Premier policy, you’ll see that your ‘Insurance Document Wording’ document has a 1st Central Premier logo on the front, and that your ‘Schedule’ document will show that Legal Expenses Cover is included on your policy, as well as what level of Breakdown Cover you have.
1st Central Plus car insurance
This product will only be offered at renewal for existing 1st Central Plus customers, and this product includes Breakdown Cover. Breakdown Cover is provided by the RAC.

How do I know if I have a 1st Central Plus policy?
Log in to Your Account and select ‘Documents’. If you have a 1st Central Plus policy, you’ll see that your ‘Insurance Document Wording’ document has a 1st Central Plus logo on the front. Your ‘Schedule’ document will show whether Breakdown is included on your policy and what level of cover you have.
1st Central Online car insurance
We’ve had a name change! 1st Central Online became 1st Central Extra. With this cover you’ll receive the same level of cover and features, including benefits such as Key Assist and Personal Accident Cover.

For existing 1st Central Online customers:
If you already have a 1st Central Online policy, the name will still show as 1st Central Online in Your Account. When it's time to renew, your documents and renewal invite will show the new name, 1st Central Extra.
If you're looking to purchase of renew a 1st Central Online policy, this is now called 1st Central Extra.
For existing 1st Central Value Online customers:
This product is only available for existing 1st Central Value Online customers at renewal.
1st Central Extra car insurance
We’ve had a name change - 1st Central Online is now called 1st Central Extra! This product is available for customers looking to purchase a new policy, or existing online customers that’re looking to renew.
This product includes benefits such as Key Assist and Personal Accident Cover, and you can now make any mid-term changes online or via telephone for free!
