Please note, you only have to send us proof of your NCD if requested to do so. In that event, we will contact you personally and give you details of how to send it to us.
What No Claims Discount do you accept?
No Claims Discount (NCD) must have been earned by the policyholder on a private car insurance policy in the UK within the past two years.
We can also accept the following types of NCD if a customer is unable to provide NCD from a private car insurance policy:
- Company car NCD (subject to a letter from the company in the name of the individual detailing the number of years claim free and that they had sole use of the company vehicle)
- Motability NCD (most of these will state 'Motability Scheme on a motor fleet insurance policy')
- NCD earned abroad in the armed forces
- NCD transferred from a husband, wife, civil partner, or common law partner (with a letter signed by both parties confirming the transfer. The number of years transferred to the policy cannot be more than the number of years the customer has had a licence to drive)
- Introductory NCD
20 years is the maximum NCD we reward a discount for.
What No Claims Discount don’t you accept?
- NCD earned on a policy that was cancelled or lapsed over 2 years ago. (Does not apply to members of the armed forces, as they may have been posted abroad on duty for more than 2 years)
- Foreign NCD (other than from Gibraltar)
- Commercial vehicle NCD this includes van insurance and taxi insurance
- Motorcycle NCD
- Fleet policy NCD
- Accelerated NCD
- Named driver NCD
- Motor Trade NCD
- NCD earned on a campervan - this is not classed as a private car
- NCD that is currently being used on another vehicle
