Will I get a refund if I cancel my car insurance?

Within the first 14 days of your policy:

If you cancel your 1st Central policy within 14 days (known as the 'cooling-off' period) you'll receive a pro-rata refund, meaning you'll be charged for the amount of time we've covered you for, provided no claim has been made and you've not been involved in an incident which might give rise to a claim under the policy. We may also retain the non refundable arrangement fee as per policy terms. Any Optional Extras (e.g. Legal Expenses Cover or Personal Accident Cover) you've purchased will be refunded in full if you've not made a claim against them.

After 14 days:

If you cancel your 1st Central policy after 14 days, you'll receive a pro-rata refund, meaning you'll be charged for the amount of time we've covered you for, provided no claim has been made and you've not been involved in an incident which might give rise to a claim under the policy. We'll retain the non refundable arrangement fee as per policy terms and also charge a cancellation fee. Please note that after 14 days, any Optional Extras (e.g. Legal Expenses Cover or Personal Accident Cover) are non-refundable.
