Will I get a refund if I cancel my car insurance?

Within the first 14 days of your policy:

If you cancel your 1st Central policy within the first 14 days (your cooling off period), we’ll give you a refund for the rest of the time you haven’t been covered.

We’ll take off the cost for the days you were insured. This only applies if you haven’t made a claim and you haven’t been involved in an incident that could lead to a claim.

We might also keep the arrangement fee, in line with your policy terms.

If you’ve added Optional Extras, like Legal Expenses Cover or Personal Accident Cover, we’ll refund these in full if you haven’t made a claim on them.

After 14 days:

If you cancel your 1st Central policy after the first 14 days, we’ll refund you for the rest of the time you haven’t been covered.

We’ll take off the cost for the days you were insured. This applies as long as you haven’t made a claim and you haven’t been involved in an incident that could lead to a claim.

We’ll keep the arrangement fee in line with your policy terms, and we’ll also take a cancellation fee.

Any Optional Extras you added, like Legal Expenses Cover or Personal Accident Cover, aren’t refundable once the first 14 days have passed.

My policy has renewed and I want to cancel, what do I do?

You can still cancel your policy after it has renewed by following the steps below.

I’m looking to switch my auto renewal off, what do I do?

If you want to switch your auto renewal off or are looking for any further information around your renewal, you can do this easily and quickly online at any time.

  1. Log in to Your Account
  2. Select Account Settings at the top right-hand corner of your Dashboard screen
  3. At the bottom of the page, select Manage Renewal Settings
  4. You’ll be able to manage your auto renewal here

Cancelling your policy online

If you'd like to cancel your policy, you can do this online. 

Simply follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Your Account
  2. You'll land on the Your Policy page where you can view and manage your policy
  3. Scroll to I'd like to cancel my insurance, and choose Cancel my insurance
