Will I have to pay my car insurance excess?

When setting up your policy you'll have been advised of any compulsory excess, in addition to any voluntary excess you selected. This is the amount you've agreed to pay if you were to make a claim. After making a claim you'll need to pay this to us and we'll cover any remaining costs.

Some of our policies include additional excess as detailed below:

Young & Inexperienced Driver excess is an additional £225 excess if any driver is under 25 years of age. The excess will also apply if any driver has a provisional licence or has held a full licence for less than twelve months.

A policy Endorsement is an additional excess applicable(if listed on your Policy Schedule).

The total excess applied to your claim will be the cumulative total of all applicable excesses listed above.

You can find your total excess amount on your policy schedule under 'Your Excesses'. This will include your voluntary amount and any other compulsory excesses shown. You can view your schedule now in your secure Your Account.

In some cases, you may be able to claim this back - your claims handler will let you know.
