Why have I been charged extra on my direct debit?

If you have been charged extra for your monthly payment, it may be that your payment for the previous month failed. You need to ensure your monthly payments are up to date and/or an active instruction is in place with your bank for us to collect future instalments, otherwise this is considered to be a breach of your Credit Agreement, which will result in our sending you a default notice.

1st Central incurs a number of costs when this happens, including contacting the customer to find out what's happened, updating our systems and requesting payment again to keep policy in force. Because of this we charge a fee.

Details of our fees can be found here.
